Treatment Modalities

Linda Lafrance, Board Certified Medical Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner offers consultations for facial rejuvenation and enhancement with a variety of modalities such as chemical peels, fillers, collagen bio stimulators, neurotoxin injections, and platelet rich plasma with micro-needling for facials and hair loss as well as mesotherapy. Dermatology consultation and care for minor skin affectations such as actinic keratosis and acne can also be addressed. Severe cases can be referred on to a dermatologist. Referral for in house laser treatments available when required.  Filler dissolution care is also offered.

Neurotoxins such as Dysport, Nuceiva or Botox are injected into facial muscles that cause deep line formations. Where neurotoxins are concerned, less is usually more to create a subtle relaxed looking facial expression. Neurotoxins are usually priced per unit injected. Most people who want to have their glabellar region (between the eyes) relaxed will usually require 18-20 units.  This treatment modality can be used to increase the surface area of the lips (lip flip) or raise the eye brows for a slightly more rested look.  Migraines and hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating ailments can also be treated successfully with Botox.

Dermal Fillers are used to either highlight your youthful features or to reduce the hollows created by bone and fat loss produced by normal facial aging. The goal and the area to be treated will determine which type of product is used.  Some products are meant to be injected directly over the bone, these will be thicker and last the longest.  Other products can be injected just under the epidermis to address fine lines, in this case the filler used will be thinner and lighter.  Finally, a medium thickness product will perform very well when injected sub dermally into the fat pads resulting in a rejuvenating effect that will make you look much younger than your years.

Platelet Rich Plasma is obtained by inserting a sample of client's blood into a centrifuge to separate the red cells from the plasma. Platelets are best known for their importance in clotting blood but also contain hundreds of proteins called growth factors which are important in the healing of injuries.  The concentration of growth factors in PRP can be 5 to 10 times greater than what is usually found in blood. Applications for PRP in Aesthetic Medicine include treatment of acne scars, skin rejuvenation in face, neck and hands, stretch marks, dark under eye circles. PRP is injected into the dermis using a small needle at the end of a pen or injector gun like the U225 which minimizes discomfort. The controlled inflammatory response created by the small needle along with the injected PRP will prompt your skin to produce more collagen making your skin look taunt and bright. The countless growth factors and nutrients in the PRP will also help regenerate hair growth that is thicker and stronger, repair skin damaged by scars and stretch marks. It will improve blood flow in the under-eye area to clear up the darkness that sets in when the blood pools from poor circulation. This resurfacing treatment will leave your skin looking clear, firm and bright.  This effect will continue to improve over the few months following the treatment. For best results, 3 treatments 6-8 weeks apart and maintenance treatments with 6-12 month intervals are recommended. Some downtime may be required so plan your treatments at least a week before an important event.

Sculptra is a Poly L Lactic Acid (PLLA) collagen bio stimulator that is injected in certain areas of the face to gradually stimulate collagen growth over 6-8 weeks. At least 2-3 treatment sessions of 1-2 vials are required depending on your age. Usually, 1 vial per decade of life starting at age 30 will be required.  The beneficial effects of this treatment will last at least 25 months and indefinitely if maintained with one vial per year. When this treatment is used in combination with hyaluronic acid fillers or skin boosters a synergetic effect is created to provide the aesthetic outcome you’re looking for.  Sculptra is the ideal modality for someone who is looking for gradual, natural looking improvements.

Chemical Peels are a great treatment choice for many skin concerns, from acne, hyperpigmentation/melasma, signs of aging and sun damage. There are varying types of peels that may be used to remove the skin's outermost layers that in turn, stimulates cell renewal and cell turnover, improving skin's texture and appearance. This treatment will also remove small wrinkles and large pores leaving your skin looking fresh and bright.  Chemical peels are also an ideal treatment to address acne.

Mesotherapy is a treatment that stimulates the middle layer of the skin.  In mesotherapy procedures, small doses of natural ingredients are administered subcutaneously with special disposable fine needles.  This treatment will improve small lines and wrinkles, dull, loose and dehydrated skin, help with acne scars, cellulite, localized fat deposits, stretch marks and hair loss.  Mesotherapy injection solution contains various vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, plant extracts and hyaluronic acids.  Which solution is used will depend on the patient and the effect desired.  This treatment modality when combined with a superficial chemical peel is an ideal choice for change of season resurfacing facial.
